The Valley
Oswald Chambers said in one of his articles that the place of humiliation is in the valley, the lowest pit between two high mountains.
By human standards, achievement is measured by how high you climb and success means you have reached the top. But God's ways are higher than ours.
God will bring us to the mountain top to experience His magnificent glory and awesome wonders. But He will not have us remain there. By staying too long at the top, the risk of posessing glory to oneself gets higher. The Tower of Babel needs to be toppled down for humans to realise their lowly positions. We need to go down to the valley because there is where we belong. Only when we are on the ground looking up, are we able to see how small we are and how great the creation of God is. With that, the magnitude of our Lord's existence is indescribable.
A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher Luke 6:40. How can we boast about our power when all power that we have comes from God? How can we walk a head taller than the rest when Jesus comes to earth to serve? How can we ask for crown on the head when Jesus washes the feet of His disciples?
When God wants us to remain at the lowest point, here is where the moulding process starts. Are we able to withstand the heat of trials? Are we able to endure the cut-off from our fleshly desires?
Let us not be hypocrites and claim we are children of God only during the good times and curse Him during the bad.
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1. We need to hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23Oh that we may know we are nothing without Christ.
To live is Christ and to die is gain. Philippians 1:21 We who are baptised with Christ are clothed with Christ. Galations 3:27 Our true self worth comes when we allow Christ to work in us thoroughly. That we become empty so that He may be full in us.
Blessed are the poor in the spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven Matthew 5:3
Only when we truly remain at the place of humiliation, then we are able to see God's glory and give God His glory. The purification process is always painful and comes with struggles. But upon completion, we are made perfect in Christ. And what more joy can we get than to serve a perfect and holy God and - double the joy- to have Him listen to our prayers?
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.2 Chronicles 7:14
